Fashion Friday: Pattern-al Instinct

Feeling like some patterns are in order for a sunny weekend.

I heart these color combinations since they look new but are also classic.
Designs: Chaiken / Duro Olowu

The ikat patterns are gorgeous...reminiscent of Indonesia.
Designs: Diane Von Furstenberg /Jenni Kanye

The shapes are so similar, but the patterns make them stand out.
Designs: Tuleh / Derercuny

I love the light quality of these patterns.
Designs: Badgley Mischka / Carolina Herrera

Back to the Future

I love this film reel from the '30s predicting fashions for today.
Favorite line:  "Ooh..shwish!"

Innovative Art

Who wouldn't want a set of 64?
Vietnamese artist Diem Chau has got some major creativity. It would be pretty awesome to commission a crayon piece from her.

Fashion: All Work and No Play

Shockingly, my life is not filled with cocktail parties and galas.
Here are eight looks that would work at work:
Lela Rose / Luca Luca (with a cardigan for my chilly office)

Peter Som / Behnaz Sarafpour

Sari Gueron (with a longer hemline - eek)/ Tulah
Andrew Gn / Abaete

Inspiration: Contemporary

I've always loved dress sketches, and was excited to see these pieces by Autumn Russell who works out of my old home town.

Form + Function

I like the blog Design-Milk.  Not just because the name wants me to find some fancy cookies to eat when I read it, but b/c she regularly shares some cool pieces like these:
A eco-friendly water filter from Aquaevo I wouldn't mind giving up kitchen space for.

Concerto Table -  a la Love Grove & Pucci - so I can pretend to play piano in a more believable setting.

Beautiful...don't you agree? (The story - below - is pretty nice too!)

These are from a collaboration of photography on Sea and Sky Journal

The story:  "Sea is M from Seattle and Sky is Gilly from northern England.  We have never met in real life but ... have been photo-journaling for nearly a year.  We decided to form our own journal, with side-by-side images comparing and contrasting our days lived far apart.  There are no rules..."

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Did you ever have to wear a construction paper clover if you "forgot your green" at school on March 17?
I prefer these alternatives:

Felt Brooch by Jen Menkaus
Ensemble by L.A.M.B

Dress by Erdem
Ring by Ash Hilton

Scarf by Viktor & Rolf
Ensemble by Lela Rose

Frock by Thakoon
Pouch by Eva Godeva

Fashion Friday: Color Story

Just as I thought that Spring had arrived, the clouds came back to drizzle on us to say "psych!"
These glossy color-saturated frocks are warming my chilly soul:
