Handmade Finds for a New Place

I'm moving soon!  And although I won't have room for more new stuff, making a wish list of great handmade items on Etsy inspires me to pare down to make room for some of these!

ZiqZaq Coffee/Tea set for two.  Super charming and green, too!

Comic Tray - great as a catch all!
Design by Bombus

Loving the simplicity of these shapes, perfect for a kitchen wall.

Union Jack Cushion.  Great bold colors.  But not sure the guy would go for this one!

Now...I better get to packing!

Fashion Friday: Picks for the Heat

The temperature recently has really shot up to my comfort range of mid-80's! As a desert girl transplanted to kinda-chilly No. Cal., I'm excited to pull out my summer dresses usually saved for trips to Texas!

Here are some pieces that would be perfect for a day of wine-tasting (tomorrow!) or just hanging out on the deck with friends and a pitcher of sangria (yum
! fruit!).

Dresses from JCrew and Old Navy

Solid and Pattern Frocks from Banana Republic

I'm totally in awe of the saturated sorbet colors of Michael Kors Spring 2008 collection.
Dream with me, people:

Photo Monday (on Wednesday)

Just got back from Texas! It was a busy trip, with not a lot of time to wander with my camera.
But here is one shot that I like:

Plates

I'm considering taking a photography class on portraits. Here are two of my favorites from the weekend:

Paying Respect to a Pop Master

One of my favorite American artists, Robert Rauschenberg, passed away yesterday.  There are too many words to describe his work, but if I had to choose one, it would be visionary.

Down in the West Texas Town of El Paso

I'm headed to see my family in Texas...and I hope to see some spectacular El Paso sunsets like this one I found on Flickr.

Have a great weekend!

Fashion: The Met Costume Institute. Gala

A few favorites from from the Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute "Superheroes" Gala
(and two favorite "misses" at the bottom):

The shape is perfect on these two. Love those gloves!
Blake Lively in Ralph Lauren / Venus Williams in the Carolina Herrera I blogged about in February

Both dresses nicely wink at the theme w/o looking like costumes.
Christina Ricci in Givenchy Haute Couture / Gisele Bundchen in Atelier Versace

Love the color and love the leather piece!
Molly Sims in Versace / Emily Mortimer (not sure whose dress this is!)

Oh no.
Misha Barton in Missoni /Jennifer Connelly in Balenciaga

Art Inspiration: Classics

Two Women At a Window - Bartolome Esteban Murillo (1618-1682)
I love this piece; the two expressions are so different and so real.

Image courtesey of The Artchive.

Photo Monday

Focus on nature this week. The landscape of Half Moon Bay seems to change overnight, so I captured a few bright floral shots while I could!

Busy busy
(I was especially excited to catch this little guy in action)
