One cool thing

Ampersand bookend by Crows with Bows
I'm a big fan of anything that will help me corral my books and mags in such a cute way.

Art Inspiration: The Art Institute of Chicago

The Art Institute of Chicago is a true hallmark of an outstanding museum. Despite the fact that many pieces were not available to view on account of major building projects, my friends and I enjoyed our time in this fantastic place. Here are some highlights:

The celebrities (my friends and I gasped when we saw these - like teenage girls at a whispery NKOTB show)

George Seurat, Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, 1884-1886
The enormity and the detail of this piece was stunning.

Edward Hopper, The Nighthawks, 1942
The scene pulls you in and it's difficult to walk away from this diner.

Grant Wood, American Gothic, 1930
So iconic. I really like that the daughter is so prim but has a tendril falling out of place.

Mary Cassat, The Child's Bath, 1893
Serene and beautiful.

New favorite:

Elizabeth Sparhawk Jones, The Shoe Shop, 1911
I love the intensity of the buyer and the seller's faces and the hustle bustle of the store.

Fall Fashion: Searching for...

I'm been on the hunt for some flat knee-high boots and thought grey would be a cool color choice. This is what I have found since the suede ones I ordered were way too 80's for my taste.  Thoughts?

Project Runway: Season 5 Finale

The final designs of Leanne and Korto were so freaking awesomely creative yet wearable yet fantastic yet now yet styling yet marvy that I cannot believe the judges could pick just one of the designers as the winner.  Here are my favorites from my 2 favorites...

Leanne:

Her first look nearly made me weep, and then she finished with the sweetest wedding gown ever.

Korto:

And Korto's use of color and shine was pitch-perfection.

Photo Monday: Austin!

After a few weekends of crazy, jam-packed trips and work-related activities, I can finally catch up on some postings. My first installment of photos is from a fantastic trip to Austin to the Austin City Limits Music Festival w/ my boyfriend & sibs.

Here are some non-music fest shots:
