Fashion Focus: Golden Globes

It's award season, and regrettably the Golden Globes were a parade of bland leading the bland. Don't get me wrong, the dresses are gorgeous, but didn't give us the wow factor I was hoping for. What do you think?

Elizabeth Banks in J Mendel and Salma Hayek in Bottega Veneta, totally worked the pale but sexy look. The ruffle details showed up beautifully on camera, and Salma looked effortless.

This pair is a study in contrasts. How to look old school Hollywood, and how NOT to.
Eva Mendes in Christian Dior, with a phenomenal Van Cleef & Arpels bib necklace was the epitome of movie star glamour. And Drew Barrymore in Dior Haute Couture ruined an otherwise stunning gown with a Marilyn wig. I did love the little red clutch, though.

Evan Rachel Wood in vintage Elie Saab looked age appropriate and fashion forward without looking too trendy or matronly (Anne Hathaway take note). And Hayden Panettierre in Gianfranco Ferre excited me merely by actually wearing COLOR.

And my favorite pair of the night were:

Demi Moore in Christian Dior and Rumor Willis in Reem Acra. Both were stunning! Demi carried off the pale look so well...especially with the flowing hair. And her daughter's look was fantastic...color, bare neck, and a belted waist! Love them both.

Now for the bad news...

Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive (see above) and Heidi Klum in vintage James Galanos - how can a beauty like this do this to her fans. Yikes.

Renee Zellweger in Carolina Herrera, and Cameron Diaz in Chanel Haute Couture. It's difficult to precisely point to the mistakes made with these two, but I believe hair, gown shape, color, and shoe/clutch combos are good places to start.

Eva's VCA collar was incredible. Also loved Christina Applegate's Lorraine Schwartz necklace!

My favorite was Eva Longoria in that gorgeous red Reem Acra mermaid gown with the clamshell neckline. Also loved the plum-colored dress on Anna Paquin, who also had fantastic makeup.

My least favorites were Renee Zellweger and poor sad old lady Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Oof. Renee looked rough. I have to say that anyone wearing Reem Acra carried the night---her designs manage to look so grecian goddess and modern sculptural all at the same time.

great round up and spot on commentary--thanks!
